JS Tip 543: Brainstorming College Football
The time is now. The day is here. The eight-month wait is over.
College football is back. The first games of the 2019-2020 season have begun.
So we have a question for you: How would you improve college football? What changes would you make? To the rules? To the play?
Funny or serious, send us your ideas. We'll celebrate and reward the best ideas.
Some ideas from past brainstorming sessions:
Put four squads on the field at once: home offense, visitor defense; home defense, visitor offense. If they bump into each other, they bump into each other. More fun.
Print the (verified) weight of each player on a bar code and put the bar code on the player’s uniform. On the field, offensive and defensive squads have to weigh the same. No weight advantage.
Position the ball for the point-after kick three yards out from where the ball crossed the goal line in scoring the touchdown. If the runner crashes the pylons, the kicker kicks from the sideline.
Require the mascots to play at least one down in each possession.
This is for fun. Enjoy it with us. Next week, we'll announce and reward the winners.
The deadline for submissions is midnight (Mountain Time), Wednesday, September 4th.
Let us know your questions and suggestions. We love this stuff. We love college football.
